Kevin Ashton - Image 1 "I hired Mark to dig up my back garden to improve the drainage of the soil: to add new top soil and then lay new turf. I watered the lawn daily after the turf was laid from my patio (so as not to stand on the new turf). When I cut the lawn for the first time after 3 weeks I could clearly see that the lawn was very bumpy and uneven because MRJ landscapes had failed to level and flatten the ground sufficiently before laying the turf. Neither did they use any planks to stand on as they laid the turf (as many other turf layers do). In two places the turf has been laid up onto fence rather than trimmed. In three locations the turf has not been "knitted together" so I have gaps between the rolls of turf. The turf has mostly rooted into the soil which is good but in one corner you can still lift the corner of the turf up (see photo). Overall I am unhappy at how unlevel my small lawn is. A few days ago I tried reaching out to Mark and I detailed my unhappiness but he has failed to get back with me. After Mark realised I was planning to leave a negative review he then offered to rectify the issue of the uneven lawn, but has not done so. I appreciate the third party attempt on my behalf to resolve the problems, but after not returning their texts and messages, it is clear MRJ have no intention of rectifying the issues. When they did respond, they did not wish to offer a resolution to my issues raised."

Trader reply: "Thank you for sharing this feedback. We apologise for not meeting your expectations. However, we cannot take responsibility for the aftercare or the drainage of the lawn. At the time of quotation, we advised to add drainage to solve your problem, but you insisted just to dig out the topsoil and replace with new topsoil and returf. This was the cheaper option; we completed this to our high standards and on leaving you seem to be over the moon with our workmanship. When we revisited the property unfortunately your bad drainage had made it go boggy again which was not down to our workmanship. We are sorry that things could not be worked out between us.
