Renewable energy is a growing market stimulated by an ecological need to find alternative energy sources for homes and businesses. The British Renewable Energy Association (REA) is a non-profit trade association, established in 2001 to represent Britain’s renewable energy practitioners and to promote the effective use of renewable energy. The REA covers all renewable energy technologies and applications, including electric power, heat, transport biofuels and, since our merger in 2013 with AfOR, compost production. Membership of the British Renewable Energy Association encourages sole traders and large renewable energy companies alike to adhere to the Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC), which is designed to guarantee high standards to customers who choose REA registered tradespeople. As part of its self-regulation initiative, the Trading Standards Institute support the RECC, accrediting it as a symbol of professional excellence and best practice, giving consumers complete peace of mind in their choice of renewable energy companies.
