British Institute of Interior Design

The BIID’s roots were established in 1965 as the Interior Decorators and Designers Association. In 2001, the IDDA merged with the International Interior Design Association, an internationally recognised organisation, to form the British Institute of Interior Design. With 50 years’ service dedicated solely to the interior design sector, the BIID is the UK’s oldest professional body for interior designers. The BIID’s stringent entry requirements mean that only the finest interior designers gain membership across commercial and residential, heritage and contemporary design sectors. Members are required to demonstrate their expertise in design process and practice, meeting regulatory requirements and continually seeking to develop their skills and knowledge. Its Institute status (granted in 2009) identifies it as a leader in the interior design industry.
