Tilers help you get that new look

Tiles help give your homes an attractive and clean finish. Good tilers who do justice to their jobs can help you get the most out of your tiles, fixing them properly so that they look good and last you for years. Tilers work on the tiles on floors and walls of your homes to give them both a decorative and protective finish.

Tiles come in a huge variety of sizes and finishes. You can choose from terracotta, granite, ceramic, marble, slate, and glass finish to give your rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, a whole new look. It is imperative that the tiles be fixed properly to ensure that they look good and tidy, so employing the services of professional tilers is a good idea.

Tilers have a lot of functions to perform, first of which is to mark out the area where tiles have to be put so as to estimate the number of tiles needed along with the amount of cement and grout. Next step is to level the area to be tiled and then prepare the area with sand, plaster or cement. Then the tiler needs to put the tiles in place, some tiles may have to be cut into the right shape and size using power cutting tools or hand tools. The last step is to finish off by applying the grout in the right amount and the right places.

In performing these steps, the tilers make use of a number of tools. A wall tile cutter lets the tilers cut into wall tiles making straight cuts while they do so. These tools don’t work well for floor tiles which are thicker. For cutting floor tiles, tilers need a floor tile cutter which is more expensive than the wall cutter and is also larger in size. Tilers also use tile nippers to cut the edges of ceramic tiles which is often required when working around corners. An adhesive spreader also helps make the job of tilers easier by helping them in spreading the adhesive on the floor evenly so that the tiles can be placed on them, while spacers ensure that the space left between the tiles is even. Trowels are used for applying the grout to finish off the work. In case a hole needs to be cut into the tile for passing a wire through it or for any other purposes, then tilers make use of hole cutters to cut through the tile.

Placing the tiles correctly and properly is a time consuming and manual work. If instead of hiring a professional tiler you intend to take on the work yourself make sure you have the time, patience, and stamina to do so. An improperly placed tile can chip off easily, make the surface uneven, and also looks untidy. The better option is to hire tilers to do the work for you. Make sure you check the references before selecting a tiler. Good tilers can make all the difference to your tiling job and make the rooms and kitchen attractive and tidy to look at.
