Make a style statement with block drives

Every house owner wants their house to look good and attractive. In trying to do so they often forget about one important factor of their house – their driveway. Block drives are a smart way of making your house look good and attractive and leave a good first impression on the visitors mind. Block drives give your house and driveway more character and are much better to look at than asphalt or concrete driveways. They look good and can be easily adapted for driveways, garden paths, patios, and many other such applications.

Block drives are available in a wide range of designs thanks to the wide variety of blocks available. Blocks used in block drives are usually molded concrete blocks which are available in a huge variety of colors, textures, and sizes. The colors and textures available are very wide in variety and can be used to create interesting designs. There is a standard size to which most of the rectangular blocks comply, thus you can easily interchange blocks from different manufacturers to create unique block drives. Some of the blocks are even reversible so stained blocks can easily be replaced. One aspect to watch out for when choosing the blocks for your block drives are the dyes used in the blocks. Cheap dyes often tend to fade very fast when exposed to sunlight. A good idea is to ask for references and see a block drive which has been in use for some years now. You can also create different patterns by using different laying patterns. For instance you can use the stretcher bond pattern to lay the blocks in a straight line, or use the 45 hennigway pattern to have zig-zag type of a design. The blocks used in block drives come in a wide range of thicknesses, the blocks for use at home are usually between 40mm thick to 65mm thick.

Apart from looking attractive, block drives also have the advantage of being easy to maintain. Occasional sweeping to remove the dust, weed killer treatments twice a year, and sealants to ensure the color does not fade as quickly are more than enough to ensure your block drives lasts you or many years. Also, if any of the blocks does get damaged, it can be easily replaced. And these blocks are easily and widely available so you will never have to worry about finding blocks to repair your drive way.

Block drives take a little more effort in making and are a little on the higher side in terms of price initially, but in the longer run then turn out to be more economical because of low maintenance. Additionally, a proper and attractive block drive will also add to the value of your property.

So if you are planning to get a new home or do some changes in your present drive way, It is definitely a smart idea to go in for block drives instead of asphalt or concrete drive ways. Block drives will add a lot of value to your home, both in terms of looks and property value.
