The responsibilities of an Electrician

Electricians do not have easy jobs.  They are responsible for making sure that electricity gets delivered correctly and in a society that is powered primarily by electricity, their job is very important.  It is a job that requires a lot of dedication both to complete the schooling and training that are required to become an electrician and then to make sure that each job is done correctly.  Electricians are responsible for the delivery of electrical power as well as making sure that things are wired for electricity correctly.  This means that they work with machine equipment, refrigeration units, air conditioners, and anything that uses electricity as its source of power.

Electricians must be good at math, physics, and wiring and have some basic engineering knowledge. Electricians work with circuitry in both small and large electrical systems.  They create and circuits that carry electricity both to places and within places.  They will be able to remember electrical codes and know where to find them.  Electricians must also know how to draw and read blueprints, work with and create circuitry and be able to test the circuits they have created.  Electricians must be able to handle detailed information and work with a certain amount of manual dexterity.  Electricians have an average work week, but sometimes overtime and weekends might be required.

Electricians also climb to high places and can go under the ground.  Often they might be working in closed in spaces (like a venting system) so people who are thinking about becoming electricians should not have problems with heights or claustrophobia.  They also should be able to work outdoors as a lot of wiring work involves working with circuit breakers and electrical meters.

Electricians are the people who wire your homes and office buildings, they wire the traffic lights.  Electricians are also the people who wire lamps and machines.  A day in the life of an electrician can involve fixing an electrical outlet, climbing up into a venting system to see why an air conditioner is not cooling properly or even going down under the street to fix the sensor at a stop light.  An Electrician might also be the person to whom you take your microwave to be fixed or the person who re-wires your lamp so that you can use a different kind of light bulb.

Almost anybody can be an electrician.  Electricians have an aptitude for physical science and math.  They will understand how circuits and electrics work.  Electricians will be able to both create new circuits and repair old ones both in regular wiring and in the wiring of individual items that rely on electricity as their source of power.  The electrician’s job is an important one.  They work with everything we use on a daily basis. They are the people who are responsible for making sure that everybody has access to the electricity that is our major source of power.  Without electricians, all of the conveniences we love today would no longer be relevant!
