- Image 1 - February 2024. New Consumer Unit fitted. The house is a multi occupancy HMO, the law requires all sockets in these properties to have Arc Fault Detection Devices for full protection. The AFDDs are the breakers with the Status LEDs.
- Image 2 - Security lighting for a block of flats. The light over the door and the inner foyer is on during darkness so you can see the entrance. The floodlights are activated by motion sensors.
- Image 3 - The whole car park is illuminated by lower powered spotlights but more of them that are spread out so as not to irritate the neighbours.
- Image 4 - BEFORE: client had a plumber out as her heating wasn’t working properly and this is what he did. And it still didn’t work properly.
- Image 5 - AFTER: this is how it looked afterwards. And her heating issues were cured. Heating electrics can be quirky depending on what system you have so you have to be sure to match the electrics to the plumbing. Where ever possible, we always wire up your heating electrics with a view to making your boiler last longer.
- Image 6 - Front lights work together either via motion sensor or with a switch in the hallway. Originally the only light was the one facing you as you walked to the front door, but it was thought that an extra light near the door would be needed to better illuminate the door.
- Image 7 - Very discreet motion sensor. It only triggers if you walk up the path to the door, not nuisance triggering if you are only walking past.
- Image 8 - Bathroom downlights. All fire and IP rated with a Fire Rated extractor vent and loft extractor that is nearly silent - you can hear the sound of the air, but not the fan. We only fit one type of fan and downlights. They are top quality and have excellent performance, reliabilty and warranties.
- Image 9 - Hallway was a non uniform shape, so downlight placement is important to eliminate shadowing.
- Image 10 - The boiler vent was too close to where a motion sensor light was needed, so we mounted the light where it was needed and put the motion sensor a few metres away by the patio doors so it picks you up whichever door you walk out from.
- Image 11 - Motion sensor is mounted a few metres from the light it is controlling, other wise the heat from the boiler vent steam would create nuisance triggers.
- Image 12 - 3 side lights and 2 PIRs work together, so whichever way you walk down the side, one of the sensors picks you up and illuminates all 3 lights and the whole rear of the property.
- Image 13 - Side light and PIR. It is possible to add override switches to make the lights more controllable if required.
- Image 14 - I have to confess, I don’t like multiple security lights with inbuilt PIRs that trigger individually if you are trying to light up a larger area. This is why we always fit separate motion sensors and lights. They are significantly more reliable, infinitely more expandable and flexible and you can choose lights that you like the look of without needing to worry whether it has a PIR or not. Also it is easy to add override switches if you want to switch them on manually. The rear of this property is around 15 metres in length, but all the lights come on together.
- Image 15 - Final touch decorative switches and sockets. The switch positions correspond to the positions of the lights they are controlling. This is in the hallway and the porch and front door are to your right as you look at the switch. Furthest light = furthest switch so from right to left they go - Front Lights, Porch, Hallway. All the cable drops have been run in plastic conduit so in case any cables need to be replaced at any time in the future, they can simply be pulled through from the loft.
- Image 16 - During the Rewire -when the initial switches and sockets were fitted, they were done with cheap white plastic and used removable plastic stand offs that keep them around 30mm from the wall, but are firmly secured so you can continue to use them. It also allows the plasterer and decorator to work around the rear of the switch in order to get the best possible finish. It means that they are plastered and painted to the rear back box and it doesn’t matter if they get dirty. When the decoration is finished, remove the plastic standoffs and fit the final switches without getting plaster or paint on them and the final finish is significantly better.

- Image 18 - Never forget the Smoke Alarms. I only ever fit these as they are reliable, easily replaced and easily tested. I have these fitted in my own home. I have one rule - that I wouldn’t fit anything in your home that I wouldn’t have in mine. The smoke alarms, downlights and extractor fans are the same as I have where I live.
- Image 19 - Consumer unit was re-sited from its original place near the ceiling in the kitchen to the hallway cupboard. The board is populated with RCDs built into each circuit breaker for ultimate convenience. Surge Protection is added to all Consumer Units that we fit.
- Image 20 - Got to hide those hideous wires. This was done as part of a Rewire of the property during which the Consumer Unit was moved from its original place (which was inaccessible) and moved to an internal cupboard where it is better available for shorter people.

He is extremely knowledgeable and made great suggestions to make things easier for us. My husband had lots of questions and Steve answered them all, every time. He has also now carried out work for my parents too because of the workmanship he has done in our house. We have recommended him to friends and neighbours, which also uncovered the amount of other people that also have had work done by Steve who also recommend him. Overall great guy and great work ethic, we wouldn't even bother to get anyone else for any future work."

"Steve is extremely professional. We have used him on numerous projects, as he is dependable and we can trust him to carry out work to a high standard. Our house has presented many challenges for Steve but he has always found a way to deliver the best solutions. We have had an EV charger installed, new driveways lights and a completely new consumer unit installed and certified in the house to name a few projects he has completed for us. We never hesitate recommending him to friends and family."
